DAVID SMITH
Managing Partner
David Smith is a serial entrepreneur and structured finance expert with 37 years of luxury commercial real estate development experience. Over his career, David has raised over $1Bn in project financing and delivered over 1,300 high-end residential units in premium locations in Florida, Maryland, and Illinois. The total value of his development projects is $2.6Bn.
HENRY MORRIELLO
Legal Counsel
Henry is Partner at Arnold & Porter and guides all the debt/equity finance in addition to IEG’s business structuring. He is active in all areas of finance, including structured finance and derivatives, transportation finance, and financial regulatory matters. Henry has represented global financial institutions in groundbreaking governmental financial assistance transactions, troubled financial asset portfolio sales and liquidations. Additionally, he has been active in representing investment funds and financial institutions in the purchase and financing of financial assets.
Starting at age 27, David managed John Allmand Boat Company in Miami, Florida on behalf of the owning family. His real estate career began during the early 1980s in Fort Myers, Florida, where he conceived, financed, and built a 20-unit rental apartment project in the downtown area.
With real estate always in the foreground, David served as president and founder of David Smith Advisors, a boutique pension fund advising firm. David specialized in real estate mortgage bond projects specifically designed for large public pension funds, including Oregon State Treasury and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), among others. He also consulted for several technology-focused companies and managed operations on behalf of ownership.
David continues to be a 31% owner/partner in The Garlands of Barrington today.
